Urban Land Institute San Diego/Tijuana

ULI-300x46 copyThe Urban Land Institute provides leadership in the responsible use of land, and in creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide. As the “go to” land use organization for real estate issues in our region, the ULI San Diego/Tijuana District Council facilitates the open exchange of ideas among industry leaders, practitioners and policy makers. The District Council sponsors monthly educational forums in addition to an annual Trends Conference and Smart Growth Awards program. SDLL President Robin Madaffer is the immediate past District Council Chair of ULI San Diego for 2011-2012. Associate Justine Nielsen is actively involved in ULI’s Young Leaders programs.


Reality Changers

rc-banner-topReality Changers is dedicated to providing inner-city youth from disadvantaged backgrounds with the resources to become first generation college students by supplying academic support, financial assistance, and leadership training. Robin Madaffer has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2012.


Downtown San Diego Partnership

DSDP logoThe Downtown San Diego Partnership is a leading advocate for the economic growth and revitalization of Downtown. The Partnership works closely with regional business organizations and government agencies to identify needs, develop strategies, shape public policy and implement programs that strengthen the business climate and quality of life in Downtown San Diego. SDLL President Robin Madaffer is a member of the Executive Committee and Board. She chairs the Ending Homelessness Leadership Teams, a partnership between business, government and philanthropy dedicated to ending homelessness in San Diego. Robin received the Chairman’s Alonzo Award in 2010 for her work ending homelessness.


Community Housing Works

IMG_22012013_084358CHW is a nonprofit that helps people and communities move up in the world through opportunities to own, rent and achieve through rental communities and developments, community programs and classes and coaching on lending and real estate. Robin Madaffer was a member of the Board of Directors from 2008-2011.


Lambda Alpha International

IMG_22012013_084426Lambda Alpha was established at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois to help foster the study of land economics. The inspiration for Lambda Alpha was Professor Richard T. Ely (1854-1943), commonly called the “Father of Land Economics.” The membership of Lambda Alpha includes outstanding individuals from many parts of the world who have distinguished themselves in all of the various disciplines and activities that relate to the use and re-use of land. These individuals include not only those who are involved in the ownership, management, regulation and conservation of land, but also those who are involved in its development, redevelopment and preservation. Robin Madaffer is a member of Lambda Alpha International.


YWCA of San Diego County

IMG_22012013_084445The YWCA of San Diego County helps women, children, and families escaping domestic violence and homelessness overcome trauma, rebuild their lives, and achieve self-sufficiency. Through its Becky’s House®, Passages, and the Cortez Hill Family Center programs, it provide comprehensive services that include safe housing, counseling, legal assistance, employment support, financial literacy training, and supportive children’s programs to over 5,700 individuals annually in San Diego County. Associate Justine Nielsen has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2010.

The American Public Works Association is a group of professionals in all aspects of public works throughout North America. Its mission is to develop and support the people, agencies, and organizations that plan, build, maintain, and improve our communities. Associate Morgan Wazlaw was the Project Manager of APWA’s nationwide Emerging Leaders Academy in 2013. She was formerly a Board Member of the Ventura County Chapter of APWA and remains actively involved in the organization as part of the San Diego Chapter.
